How long do you think it would take?
Around 5 years?
Since I can sing Tom Lehrer's Element song from memory, and I'm getting better quickly at LeCrae's Don't Waste Your Life it seems silly to be largely ignoring the Bible (other than what I naturally absorb).
Why Psalms?
- They're the heart of Biblical worship... and therefore useful for church, prayers, songs, etc.
- They're the biggest book of the Bible... if I can do this, I can do any other book of the Bible.
- They cover a ton of theology, some of which is not too familiar to 21st century western Christians, which will provide some food for thought.
Anyone else up for it?

For those interested, I'd already learnt Psalm 1 and I've learnt 2,3 and 4 in the last 3 days. 5 is a little longer so that'll probably take me today and tomorrow. Sunday I shall rest.
Hey! Saw your blog today and really enjoyed your thoughts on memorizing the Psalms. Thought you might be interested in a brand new prepublication offer from Logos Bible software of Classic Commentaries and Studies on Psalms. Thanks and let me know if I can help in any way! http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/6738
Paul,
I followed your bread crumbs from Pyro and I'm just having a look around. Cool stuff here.
Over at Pyro the other day you made an interesting comment about 95% of the systematic theology folks using the word sanctification wrongly. Could you please tell me what they say it means and what you say it means.
Believe me I'm not a debater or very good at playing catch with logic. I'm just interested in the subject of sanctification and would enjoy tossing what you meant in the air and hitting it up against the wall by myself.
Where I'm at so far with sanctification is that it is a progressive process of being conformed to the image of Christ. It is a synergistic involvement lead by the Holy Spirit and His first practice He conducts is getting the kids to understand and appropriating that we have been crucified with Christ and the Holy Spirit has taken residence in us. And maybe mentioning somewhere during this first practice that there is no drinking water or dunking water in Romans 6.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me in advanced.
God bless you,
Phil Bradshaw
